Will the text stay selectable?
Text-based PDFs stay selectable. Scanned PDFs are images inside a PDF, so they compress by reducing image quality — still readable, just lighter.
How small can it get?
It depends on what’s inside. Image-heavy scans shrink the most; already-optimised PDFs shrink less.
